Mel, a founder of Merit Consulting, retired from the company in 1992 as senior vice president and senior project manager after having built 12 of 14 mines for Placer Developments worldwide. He has spent his "retirement" involved in the development of junior resource companies, as director and / or chairman of the board, involved in projects in Canada and Africa.
