Widespread Intrusive Related Gold Located On Nevada Property Gold Values Up To 21,508 Ppb (21.5 G/T)
Vancouver, B.C. (September 9, 2009) -- Roxgold Inc. (the "Company") (TSX.V: ROG) has completed the initial field examination of its Nevada property, acquisition terms of which were outlined in the Company's July 2, 2009 press release. The property covers a northwest to southeast- trending knob of highly deformed, folded and faulted limestone and dolomite that was explored for lead, copper and zinc in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Numerous pits, trenches, adits, steep declines and/or shafts were dug looking for carbonate, sulphate and/or oxide lenses enriched in base metals. There is no indication of past interest in gold.
Although dolomite hosted Pb-Zn deposits in this part of Nevada contain insignificant gold values, recent work shows that there is a second generation of, intrusion-related gold and copper deposits many of which are found along a major thrust fault. The mineralization on the property appears to be associated with a previously unmapped granodiorite dyke. Gold-bearing fluids are believed to have come to surface along the major thrust that crops out on the eastern edge of Roxgold's property. The lead associated with the gold mineralization may have been scavenged from the older dolomite. Historic Government mapping indicates the mineralizing intrusion and the deposit may be Tertiary in age -- the same age as a number of significant epithermal deposits in Nevada.
Sampling by Roxgold Inc. shows significant gold mineralization along about 100 metres of the hanging wall of the thrust. All of the samples with one exception were taken from either outcrop or the muck piles from the historic underground workings. Ten of seventeen rock samples returned geochem values in excess of 1,000 ppb gold (>1 g/t Au) with a high of 21,508 ppb (~21.5 g/t Au):

A block of granodiorite was located in the wall of one of the underground workings and fragments were found in the associated muck pile. Several intrusion samples were altered and weathered and now consist largely of vuggy crystalline quartz. Samples of limestone breccia cemented by a white oxide material were also found on one of the waste dumps. This silicified and originally sulphidized rock also carries gold. It may reflect mineralization adjacent to a dyke.
On the north side of the knoll, strongly foliated chloritic and haematitic rock was noted at the portal of a major adit. This, intensely deformed material is not part of the normal dolomite/carbonate succession and may be a tectonic sliver emplaced by a splay from the underlying thrust.
"The primary objective of our initial field visit was to confirm the presence of gold on the property, as reported in the vendor's recent work and assess the geological potential of the property," stated Alan Raven, President of Roxgold. "The number of highly anomalous samples, the magnitude of the associated gold values and the presence of associated intrusive rocks exceed all expectations and creates an exciting opportunity for Roxgold."
Based upon the strong results from the initial property examination, Roxgold has mobilized a staking crew to expand the Company's land position in the area.
