Ireland Property - Nevada

The Ireland property is located in an underexplored area of Nevada, south of Las Vegas. Mineral occurrences in the area are generally lead -- zinc +/- silver deposits in Paleozoic limestone and dolomite; however, a few contain copper and/or gold. The lead -- zinc deposits are known to be Paleozoic in age. They were first noted at the turn of the last century, when several oxide occurrences were mined, primarily for their zinc content. Few of the lead -- zinc deposits contain appreciable precious metal values and the gold potential of this class of deposit was largely overlooked.

Recent work by Roxgold indicates the Ireland occurrence is not a typical Paleozoic dolomite and limestone hosted base metal deposit. It is believed that the gold -- lead +/- copper mineralization found at the Ireland is intrusive related and either Mesozoic or Tertiary in age. This is based on the location of a mineralized intrusive dyke on the property. Historic government mapping shows a Tertiary-age intrusion (TKi) in the vicinity of the property and it may be related.

Sampling of the dyke and the surrounding wall rock has returned highly anomalous gold values.

Ten of seventeen samples collected by Roxgold from outcrop and from "dump" rocks adjacent to workings during the initial property visit returned values in excess of 1,000 ppb gold (> 1 gram per tonne gold) with a high of 21,508 ppb (~21.5 grams per tonne gold)

Intrusion related gold [red triangles] and/or copper [red circles] deposits (see compilation map) appear to have formed from fluids that migrated along a major regional thrust exposed to the east of the property. The mineralization found in the Ireland deposit may have formed from intrusion-related fluids that scavenged lead and zinc from older, Paleozoic carbonate hosted lead - zinc deposits [red boxes]. Based on this early success, Roxgold has expanded its land position by staking additional claims along the projection of the thrust believed to be carrying the mineralizing fluids.

An important part of the next phase of exploration will be to confirm the age of the intrusions in the area. If they prove to be Tertiary as they have been initially mapped by government geologists, the mineralization would be similar in age to the gold deposits in the Walker Lane Trend, on strike to the northwest of the property.
